Former UD AAPHI Director Colette Gaiter continues to write on Black design–until recently, a woefully underrepresented topic, which reflected the omission from “mainstream” [white] design practice. As in other disciplines, scholars understand the need to look beyond the traditional sources to find and reveal neglected or ignored Black designers. Authors of books on design have also recently included scholars of color to write about all aspects of the disciplines, bringing new perspectives. Colette Gaiter wrote an essay for this new book from Poster House Museum in New York. It is their first book!
